...and look for another weather router. This one sent them off into the teeth of a North Atlantic storm, which was followed by light airs, then a dodgy crossing of the Azores region, a torrid time in the doldrums, and they're still looking for decent breeze to get south. Not a great guess-rate so far.

In the meantime Preecy is down to one pair of knickers and has run out of choccy bars, while Geronimo is reeling off 500+ mile days and is well ahead of record schedule.

Reades of the book will know that Ellen is probably just starting to enjoy it now that it is almost impossible and if they success it will involve incredible hardship all round

The trouble is that if Geronimo completes the course to the current schedule, they will set a time that the older cats stand very little chance of beating. To be honest it seems that the "attempt" is more important than the succeeding, so they will carry on even though they have no chance of beating the record.

I seem to remember that Orange had quite a poor trip back from the Horn last time, so there is still the chance that they will beat the last time, however far behind they are now.
