Tilley Lamp Enthusiasts Forum - the giddy limit

What is this dark fascination with naked flames? I have a Vapalux, a Hurrincane lamp, a Primus stove and a Coleman petrol stove.......and three Seagulls.

However, I'm taking a step backwards from liquid fuel - I have a wonderful Kelly kettle and a wood burning rocket stove........looking at getting a wood=burning pizza oven for the patio...and I'm lighting things with ferrocerium rods..

There's further to fall down the slippery slope than Tillys... :o

We cooked on board with a Primus and a Monitor up to this season when we discovered the joys of an Origo but we retain them both as back up. We also have a Rippingills stove and oven on our other boat. For any members in the west Midlands any amount of parafin can be obtained 'loose' from Turners Garage of Wheaton Aston as well as seriously cheap red diesel.

I am not alone then, but I'm not an addict, cos I' ve only got a gold base Tilley, Alice's Primus in original tin, the German 'Beast'- which burns everything except white spirit, very loudly, and is a tin mounted cooker, a large Hurricane lamp, two proper ETW of Rhonnda miners lamps for the conservatory, one ETW more on gimbals in the boat, and just bought a solar hurricane shaped lamp from the Glow Co, cos of its look!:p
