'Tillergirl's' SW Sunk Channel ?

They have clearly ignored the Navionic chart but the depths on the Navionics are a little odd and there is no reference to my chartlet last year. So it is uncertain which co-ords they used. I shall send a message to see if I can find out. Again, it seems it is viable - if we only need where it is!

That track on my Navionics also shows me as firmly in the agricultural business through there. The skippers both told me that they used your chartlet coordinates. I will be going over and back over the bank holiday weekend, so I will report back with my findings if you haven't been over by then (although mine will be nowhere near as detailed as yours).

Well we might pass on the Monday of the Bank Holiday! Best I fly the pennant.

Latest Garmin Bluechart shows the SW sunk channel as per Roger's 2015 survey. Over the top of 2 (safe) wrecks.

You might be interested in the two FOULS.

The first one was found: 29.7.93 OBSTN 6.1MTRS, 1.10.93 POSN EXAM'D 4.8.93. NO EVIDENCE OF OBSTN OR SCOUR FOUND. ASSUMED TO BE BURIED. (PLA WK REPORT - CHARTWELL 50/93). DELETED.

The second one was: LOCATED 29.6.92 LEAST E/S DEPTH 5.3 IN GEN DPETH 5.7-6.3MTRS. WRECKAGE LYING IN SCOUR 9.2MTRS DEEP(! my comment). POSN EXAM'D AGAIN 4.8.93. NO EVIDENCE OF WRECKAGE OR SCOUR FOUND. GEN DEPTH NOW 5.4MTRS.

The Port of London (who are enormously helpful as they can) kindly dug out the data when I first researched the current swatchway.

I went over the SW Sunk last Friday morning. I tried to say bang-on the rhumb line on Rogers coordianates. I found that there would have been only 1.5m at CD at the SE end of it, so not deep at all. The two boats that I said came over recently did go slightly further NE than the usual track.

Very useful, thanks. I was suspecting/hoping the track was viable a little further NE. And I was hoping to do the survey Monday or yesterday. The forecast for the rest of the week suggests too bumpy for accurate readings for the rest of the week. Will this Low in the North Sea ever go away?

Ok I finally got to come back over, so I decided to see of there was deeper water further north. I sailed to the east waypoint of head a little north from there to give an XTE of about 0.04M from last years track then I followed a parallel track. The shallowest depths were at the very eastern end close to the waypoint where I saw depths of about 4.3m at CD. This got deeper quite quickly and I didn't see anything less than 7.1m over the rest of it. Hope this helps.

Well done. Just going on board now for a 4am start tomorrow morning. I hope I will be able to draw up later tomorrow evening. If anyone is bored on-line tomorrow (Tuesday 7th June) between 0730 BST to 1100 BST note the Live tide gauge for Margate please. Record the time (it will be GMT) and tidal height to 2 decimal points (every 15 minutes is ideal) - please. :D
