You will all know that on TG I shun modern gimmackery such as electrickery devices such Chart Pl..., Chart Plo.... Chart Plooo... No sorry can't say it.

Well I decided to go modern this year and have added a Windex. There's posh and fancy. I will of course point 10 degrees higher this year.

But I am having trouble making it work. Which one do I believe? And yes, both are revolving freely and no it's not a quick snap during a bit of spin backwards and forwards; it stayed like that constantly. Sorry for the glare of todays midday sun!!

If it's off to one side surely there will be distortion from the updraft provided by the genoa when you're on a port tack ( from the pic it looks as though it's on the port side). Actually, thinking about it, probably on both tacks 'cos there will be wind spilling upwards onto the windex both ways. The transducer is ahead of the genny so there will be less distortion.
I think....!
Edit spelling!

I knew no good would come of going hi-tech.

I'm afraid that I find it difficult to interpret the picture. It looks as if the two vanes are either in the same direction or 135 degrees apart.

Roger, you'll be pleased to know I have experienced exactly the same issue as you. Sailing for the first time on Sunday, I have a new mast, and the antenna has a wind indicator built on to the backstay crane. It's fine dead down wind, but upwind it was out by a large amount. I believe it's down to the Tricolour/Anchor light which must create a load of turbulence. Electronic indicator on the front of the mast seems fine
