How tight are yours to operate?

I bought 2 new 1 1/2" Italian ballvalve items from Force 4, then found I could operate one of them only with great difficulty - and the other one not at all.

Back in the store, the 'difficult' one was clamped in a bench vice, and the store chap used both hands, arms and body weight. Couldn't shift it.... until he extended the leverage with a section of pipe. Three more 'straight out of the packet' were exactly the same.

Surely this is not as it should be....?

No. You need to be able to shut them easily in an emergency. Ball v/v's should be quite free to move. sometimes new ones can be a bit stiff but not so stiff you need an extension bar to move the handle.

The ones I had from ASAP at the end of last year still move with fingertip pressure, even the 1-1/2" toilet outlet one.
