someone who talks my language!!

take the filter to your local motor factors, they will match up the threaded part and the oil seal, the only othet bit to look out for is a non return valve that some filters are fitted with (stops the oil running back through the pump) but on the yanmar i don't think you need one.

with regard to the sound proofing try the builders yard, what you're looking for is kingspan thermoliner or simmilar (yes it's fireproof... class 0) it's a bit more expensive a soft board but much better. and comes in varying thicknesses...

hope this helps (but would't be surprised if someone has a pop!)

best wishes, steve.

Just a caution on this... Im not 100% sure, but I think that diesel oil filters have different filter material to that used in petrol engines.

So there may be more to this than simply finding a filter that fits...

Based on info I was once given.

Information I have received from others

air filter u can make out of a peugeot one as its only foam....get about 3 out of one filter......oil is a vauxhal corsa.....i use the one witht he pressure valve in as it holds the oil up in the engine......and fuel u can use a ford escort dsl 1600 cav filter....

ignore yanmar oil spec.....put in a 10-40 semi synthetic....makes a big difference to the noise and 10 times better protection to the bearings...

Doesn't bother me - I'm an outboard type. But I was just thinking what great replies these are and a perfect example of what this forum is all about. IMHO of course.
