we are looking to get things tidier down below - we have a couple of bare walls and some shelves and the thought is that some netting in front of the shelves will help keep things in when sailing along and some netting against the bare wall will give us another place to put some books etc.

However we cannot find anywhere to buy the netting - it is to be of a smallish mesh (less than an inch) and of thread/string material (is that cotton?) in blue or black. Does anyone have any idea where you can buy this from? I have tried high street shops, hardware shops, I even offered to blow the budget and buy from a chandlery but to no avail

Get it by the yard as suggested, got mine from Seateach.

Try a bike shop. Bikers use v/strong elastic net, used to keep a helmet on my rack. Handy if you have something heavy. In black as well.

Nice netting on the backs of First Great Western train chairs. Complete with frame that unscrews using a swiss army knife. I may have taken one every time the train was late.....

Netting needle and twine from a fishing chandler and you can then make it to measure! (And they tend to be chandleries, not swindleries!!)

tidy down below, hmm, thought for a minute it was going to be a brazilian!!
