We were lucky enough to go out on Saturday night/Sunday morning on the Tideway after the organisers of a Round Britain Row asked for a support boat.
We launched at Putney Embankment at 2230 and went down to St Katherines where we waited till 0130. The rowing boat had to cross under Tower Bridge at 0230 which they managed with perfect timing! We followed them down to the Barrier and eventually as far as Barking and the Stolthaven site before saying our goodbyes to the lads rowing the boat and then turning and heading home. We were off the water just after 0630 and heading back home shortly after an amazing evening out on the water.
If you haven't been on the Tideway at night please take care and I would strongly suggest you make sure you are familiar with the Tideway in day light before trying it.
If you are interested we got some video of the trip to give you an idea of how boating on the Thames at night is:
Enjoy!
