Tides in your calendar/diary 2019

I've no special skills but I looked up how to add an url calendar, i.e. a calendar from the internet. This worked on my iPhone 6s.

1) Follow Airscrew's instructions down to the bit where he talks about you setting up your calendar.
2) On your iPhone go to settings, Passwords & Accounts, Add Account, Other, Add Subscribed Calendar.
3) Where it asks for a server, type in (or copy in) the following URL as described by Airscrew:
webcal://tides.mobilegeographics.com/ical/2089.ics
where 2089 is the 4-digit code for Dover
4) Enter, check it is the calendar you wanted, then Save
5) Open your calendars and there it is!

(That worked for me, I hope I've got all the steps ..)

Brilliant - many thanks! :D

I use an APP “Boatie” gives me tides and weather along with many other functions including tidal streams bouyage etc on both iPhone and iPad
Not saying it’s better or worse just an alternative that suits me

You do realise that you just do the 'p. sing about' just once per port, then it's on your device for the year? You can clearly read, the instructions are not hard to follow, it takes zero knowledge of coding or how how computers work. You can think of it as the digital equivalent of looking up the index of Reeds, then when you open your calendar, the digital equivalent of flipping the pages to the date of interest.

Obviously, if you just use your phone for making calls, then you might not actually have a smart phone and as such I agree you would just be 'p. sing about'. If you do have a smart phone and only use it for calls, then you are really wasting your money and subscription on a device. A bit like owning a sailing yacht and motoring everywhere.

:D

Not disregarded, just adding a useful additional tool. I have a couple of tide apps on my phone and they're fine for the next few days, but having a year's tides in my diary when discussing a potential trip with friends is very handy. Also useful to have on my phone if I've no connection.

There is also a "subscribe" link at the foot of every location page.

On a Mac you can just click this and it'll add the tides in the Calendar application - probably on iPhone, too?

On a PC I guess you can right click and copy the webcal: URL.

Many thanks for the link and guidance, I now have my local (to boat) tides for all days accesible whenever i'm in front of my phone or pc. As thats 'all the other days' that I'm not on board it will greatly help with planning or daydreaming

As Strolls says, there is a subscribe link at the bottom of the page.

I actually clicked on the download link next to the subscribe link and it automatically created a new calendar in outlook (2010) and that synchd to my iPad so no need to bother with urls.

The download included sun and moon rise and last quarters as additional calendar entries which can be easily bulk deleted in outlook by using list view and sorting by name.
