How did he manage to get into that position, with the keel outside the cill?
Was he trying to reverse in?

Hope not too much damage done.
 
When we berthed in the Tidemill, to ensure we got the earliest run down to the Ferry and out on the one tide, we would lean the keel gently against the cill just before there was enough water and just slither over as it came up. The admiral used to hate that maneuver, holding that any contact with the bottom at all was a rehearsal for a shipwreck - I guess she had something like that in mind.
 
Impressive give there is an accurate guage next to it.

Last year a British flagged Dutch barge managed to jam across the entrance lengthways - that was quite a scene too!
