Not a single opinion on the impact the proposed tidal lagoons (Swansea, Cardiff, Newport, Bridgwater) will make. Positive or negative, does anyone have anything to say?
I was on a mailing list for emails from the company proposing theses. When they finally asked me for an opinion, rather than bombarding me with theirs, they didn't want to listen. I explained my thoughts, pop over to Watchet, have a look, then cancel your plans. Dredging the outer harbour at Cardiff costs enough, imagine the cost of dredging inside and outside these great big lagoons. Anywhere the water hesitates, it drops silt. After that they stopped sending me emails.
The companies don't care, they will take the money and run.
I'm completely in favour of green power but only if it works.

A friend of mine had quite a high position in the company planning these and was made redundant as soon as there was a wobble over the tariff the government would pay- which I think says everything about the financials/viability of the company itself.
They plan to build them on intertidal areas so of little interest to sailors, but as Allan says I think the company will be long gone by the time the government is paying to dredge them out, for this reason will be surprised if they ever get built.
