The only seal that has worn out on my marine toilet is the moving one on the plunger. I rather object to having to buy the whole sealing kit, which is marginally cheaper than a complete new pump, which is marginally cheaper than a new toilet. Yet again I smell (if you pardon the pun ) a rip off. Does anyone know who supplies double seals by size rather than by pump manufacturer. I cannot see a single seal costing £29,95, more like £1 plus postage

Try these people - Barnwell - Tel 01214298011. They supply all manner of seals, and almost certainly the seal you have will be a commercially available seal. They will need to know the type of seal, the bore diameter and rod diameter etc etc. Alternatively, remove the seal and take it to a local branch of Bearing Services Ltd(BSL) or Fenner who do all sorts of industrial drive components - both also very god for replacement bearings, seals, vee belts etc for engines/water pumps etc - usually about a quarter of the price of the engine manufacturers prices.
What make of toilet is it?

As Dickh says ....

Seals / Bearings ..... all sorts are available from alternative sources ...

In the case of bearings often they have an id number around the flat outer ring ... this id's the bearing for any supplier to supply 3rd party alternative .... I sold my old Vire engine with knacked seals a few years back .... guy did exactly that and rebuilt it for an open launch - still potters away today smooth as silk.

Seals if you have the original in hand can often be matched and replaced ...

An old trick if replacement not available ... is a piece of leather oversize and small washer less diam than pump internal diam to give it stiffness .... well lub'd with vaseline .....
