While mooring my Broom singlehanded a few weeks ago a gust of wind blew the bow out as I was trying to get ashore. I had to run back to the helm and operate the bowthruster but it was too late so had to re-approach my berth.
I remember seeing that JC Marine Services were offering aftermarket bowthruster remotes. Got free shipping through eBay and it arrived yesterday.
Very simple to install. I removed the Vetus joystick from the upper helm and plugged it into the spare 4 Pin plug.
It works great from a good 30-40m away and it comes with a lanyard for around your neck.
It looks a bit like the winch remotes that you see on eBay but this has the Vetus plug and a better remote. I have no connection with the seller, just a happy customer who is delighted with his new gadget that was well priced compared to most boat equipment. It was £125 delivered.

Being a tight wad I’ve fitted the eBay ones. One to each of the following, bow thruster, stern thruster and anchor. Just makes life/boating less stressful.

I’ve heard a report of someone frying the electrics on their bowthruster by airing it wrong but I’m sure that’s avoidable. Also heard some have a long delay.
I’m happy with the Thrust-it, decent bit of kit that the big brand’s usually charge 4 or 5 times more for
