Hi everybody after launching yesterday morning mine has a leak of about one pint an hour which is hopefully finding its way to my so far very good
whale supersub 650.I thought at first that the leak was where the unit joins the hull outside but it ocurred to me later that there is an o ring inside the unit that may need replacing?
Anybody know what make this is and where to buy the o ring?Thanks20220730_133432 (1).jpg

Looks like a NASA log. There are 2 O rings on the transducer. Obviously check the white retaining ring is firmly screwed down. You should have a grey sealing cap to put on when you take the transducer. While it's on, take the opportunity to ensure there is no leak around the skin fitting.

First ... wipe dry all and sprinkle talc powder around and on ... that will quickly show where water is coming in.

That does look like a Nasa unit ... but there are others ... problem is they can be different diameter. I have Echo-pilot in my boat which is slightly greater diameter than the Nasa I have still in box that was going to replace it.

The usual reason for water getting in past the transducer is one of the O-rings failed. BUT that is not only reason ... it could be failing installation of mount tube or tube itself .... and a not so common way - which actually my Echo-Pilot has ... the transducer body developed a crack. The Talc powder will go some way to show where water is getting in.

If not tube or its mount - then you need to remove transducer and give a good look at it.

O-rings ... google Nasa Specs and check diameter matches yours .. then either buy service kit from Nasa or get to Motor Factors and buy O-ring there ...

If its a crack as mine .. then you can effect a temp repair with Epoxy or PU Glue or Soda Bicarb and Super Glue ... Making sure it only seals the crack..... then sand back so that it matches rest of body ... and U-ring groove has no 'bump' in it.

That repair was done last year and has survived well ....
