Hello, I'm thinking about to change my old depth sounder with a new fishfinder, but I would not change the through hull. Maybe the transducer is of the same size (if it exists a universal size) or is it highly probable that I have to change it?
Anyone had this problem before?
Thanks,

Most fishfinders will come with their own transducers. These units a re calibrated in a way that makes mixing manufacturers inadvisable.

Search here for a multitude of threads on mounting them.

perhaps look on the Airmar website as they have lots of info and they make many of the proprietary depth transducers. If not too worried about ultimate depth say below 30m then good old plasticine well warmed by the hands can stick the transducer nicely to the inside of a fibreglass hull for a tryout, or in my case as more or less permanent, as it works down to about 80m depth
