Throttle stuck

Hello, I was just wondering if anyone had an idea as to what happened. I was looking into buying a boat, its a 2004 Bayliner 215 BR and it has a chevy v8 in it. When we were out on the lake it was running great. Started with the first crank and everything. As soon as he shut off the boat the throttle stuck and started to leak gas. He did manage to release the throttle but then it would not start back up. Guessing it flooded?? Could it be something with the carb? I am very new to boats and am looking into buying my first one. Also not sure if this matters, but it was the first time he had it running this year. Thank you!

Not a huge problem assuming the boat doesn't catch fire and kill everything within a 10 metre radius...

Probably the float stuck. Would suggest carb overhaul at the very least, but it would make me wonder how the boat had been maintained!?

Possibly a good job it wouldn't restart...:ambivalence:

Yea I was hoping it would be alright but I think I'm going to wait and try to find another one. Been looking for awhile and I am starting to get impatient lol:(

In the greater scheme of things and not to lessen the inherent risk associated with leaking petrol a carb service kit is sub £100 and a couple hours of your time. If the morse cables are stuck, ditto. Providing the boat is in good overall condition, the last two could easily be coming out of winterisation blues and a good bargaining point on your side to drive the price down. Morse cables and carb issues are not unexpected if the boat has been laid up over winter and in my experience part of the frustration of getting back in the water. I should know, I just knocked off 1.5k on my cuddy sale because the engine was suffering fuel starvation. Would have been a 30 minute tank flush if water in tank, a new fuel pump at £50 quid or 8 bolts and a carb flush. Getting a buyer with cash in the hand.... not so easy. I'd take a second look if the rest was in good order and as the chap took you out in the boat one has to assume that unless he was a complete idiot, he believed that the boat was so which is a good start imo.
