Three allow tethering at no additional cost, even on PAYG, on most of their packages.

Do you use all that bandwidth?
I managed to get a PAYG Vodaphone SIM before they added the expiry bit. I've used about 15Gb since I bought it. Must be 18 months back.

Yes, I kept using up 5GB so got the 15GB, then started using unlimited data on my iPhone instead so didn't need 15GB, but used up the 5GB last month downloading some stuff. If all I use is the MiFi then yes, I can quite easily eat up 5GB in a month with general internet browsing, a couple of hours of iPlayer a week. I also love Spotify so 5GB isn't enough!

You asked about the amount of data used.. I watched the Grand Prix via the MiFi a few weeks back.. perfect picture but it does get through about 2Gb of data in an afternoon!

I only use mine for work and weather forecasts

I have a Myfi and a Galaxy S phone that can work as a hotspot.

They both use the same basic the technology but the Myfi is much faster for some reason.
