Sort of shows our place in the world these days.
We are still generally regarded as having the 4th largest navy in the world - but we are a little behind the top one.

The US navy is arguably stronger than all the other navies in the world put together.

I suspect a great advantage apart from sheer fleet numbers, is the technology at their fingertips.

In fact I think I should delete the word "arguably" - there really isn't much argument about it. A reminder of just how powerful the US military is.

Maybe that's why it seems the US thinks they are the police of the world. Great of it's for the good, but fearsome if it's not.

There is a lot they do I disagree with but on the whole looking back over the last 100 years or so I think they have been a force for good. The world would be a very different place without US military power - and I don't think it would be better.
