Thread Pinging

Dear Kim,

When patiently explaining the ground rules you say "pinging a thread" is against the rules.

It sounds like the noise I make with my dental floss, so I cannot imagine how it applies to these fora.

What is it, please?

Not entirely sure, but I would suspect that it is the entry of new posts to elevate the thread to the top of the list once it starts sinking down the rankings.
