Does anyone have information about the mooring jetties in Thornham Creek near Hunstanton?

They are described in Henry Irving's 'Tidal Havens of The Wash & Humber' (6th ed. just out - I recommend - a few important updates from 5th ed) as 'all privately owned'. But do they ever come up for sale or rent on the open market and if so does anyone have a clue where they might be advertised (?boatsandoutboards.com?)? Or is it possible to build your own and if so who owns/controls the land?

Long-shot I reckon, but such a pretty place and, although I've not yet visited by sea, looks pretty suitable for my small cat with 0.75m draft.

Cheers.

Can't help with your questions but I fancy a nosey in there sometime too, we have a cruiser with liftable outdrives so drying no problem but always like to be able to access a pub in the evening without the involvement of mud.

No idea who owns them. Might be like Blakeney where there is no "Harbour master" and people lay their own moorings and take their chances. I had a look there from the land a few years ago and decided against a visit by sea, looks too muddy and shallow IMHO

Right, and was that in your Commanche at the time, Roger, or am I misremembering your boat? Not hugely disimilar in characteristics to my Summer Twins, I think.

I do mean to attempt a visit to Thornham afloat but Swan is still out of the water having some work which is taking longer than planned.

I've visited many times, some of our club members call it the jewel of Norfork. As far as i know the jetties are put up by private people and there is nothing stopping any one putting one up. The buoys are maintained by one of the local fishing boats. Would be worth having a chat with one of the locals down there.

Oh no need to get muddy going to the pub as long as its not a huge tide. just go along side another boat. You will need to pull in the other boats lines a little as when you get back to the pub you wont be able to reach the other boat to get back on board.
