THORNYCROFT SEALION 40

Remember Youande at Ramsgate.
Apparently only 9 built….fitted out by Meakes of Marlow…friend of mine worked there and fitted them out….it was very long time ago late 60’s early 70’s !….I used to know where most of them were trundling about….unless the boat has gone abroad as a few are in Europe.

Hope this helps and maybe if Old Git sees this he’ll post up the page on them in the book 25 years of motor cruisers by Alex McMullen.

I’d take a look in Brighton marina as there was one moored in there last year.
Hi,

Shot in the dark but I'm still looking for her; drawn blank after blank so I need to ask don't suppose you have heard anything about her?

Regards TonyH

Hi Tony.

If the rumours are that she was painted white then a painted all white one was for sale on the River Ouse Yorkshire back in summer of 2018.

Flynnbarr,

Thank you for the reply; yes it was my understanding that the new owners painted Youande all white. I don't suppose you know where on the River Ouse she was based?

Regards,

No sorry i don’t…..from memory it was for sale with Acaster marine up on the Ouse…ring them up although it was 7 years ago….
There are forum members with boats up there so maybe someone on here will know…..
I have a pic of it from the ad back then but it’s too large to download on here apparently.

If you….Google…..type in Thorneycroft Sealion 40 boat…..then click on images……a pic is on there by Rightboat…..click on it and you get a summary of it….could be your father’s boat if the painted all white is correct….as I said previously there aren’t many of them and a few are and were in Europe before Youande left Ramsgate.
Last one up for sale was in Italy !
