Do i plum into before the thermostat or after on the the heat exchanger for my onboard hot water system? any hints?????

I suspect after the thermostat - I should know but I haven't reassembled it yet from the head rebuild!

On our BMC 1.5 the hot water feed to the calorifier comes from an outlet on the aft end of the cylinder head and the return goes into the hose from the heat exchanger to the water pump. Exactly as it would be on a car in fact.
