Bit strong. Kissing a bit of mud cause one was a foot out with the calcs is not he same as destroying a fin hull as it rolls around in the surf due to gross incompetence. And as for people who race? If they must knowingly place themselves in jepardy then that's their problem not mine.

If only they had been equipped with latest smart phone. The global tide calculator and quantum navigation system would have kept them clear but even if that went wrong the death star laser could have blasted them out of the rocks and the photon torpedo app could have been harnessed to tow themselves to safety.

I don't know why more people don't invest in modern mobile phones.

Paper charts won’t keep you off the putty, or indeed something much harder in Thorness bay. Forward looking sounder and a plotter in the cockpit. The scale on any paper chart is insufficient.

Actually as mine has detailed charts on it, plus Absolute Tides, it probably would have been the solution
