It certainly has the rugged industrial look about it! But there are lots of fan heaters for £10-£20 which are good enough for boat use.

Thanks for that.It's zackly what I need in my polytunnel/workshop to 'glow' the frost off my router cutters and stop the metal of my F-clamps sticking to my pink little fingers.

This is very true-However the effect of the heat output is effected also by the power of the FAN and the one shown looks mighty powerful.

But how many kilowatts is she. My system is getting a bit elderly and could be overloaded.

Hot water bottles. Can be filled from the kettle on your galley stove so no shore power required. Fit inside faux leopard skin hot water bottle cover then insert between T-Shirt and one of several layers of fleeces. Saves a lot on beer because it's the difference between being able to work at a laptop on the boat and needing to go to the pub for warmth. I have concerns about the style side of this but the practicality pushes those concerns into the background. Keeping the boat warm would be nice, but keeping the self warm is what counts
(EDIT: sorry this is the least entertaining comment in this thread but as a recent convert to hot water bottles in clothing whilst on board I feel the need to mention it...)

My experience is that this system absorbs more heat that it emits.

Prefer these to the Lidl one.

Reminds me of using one of those gas-powered space heaters in a workshop years ago. Using one,nicknamed 'the RB211', at one end of the lab started some fire-resistant seat foam smoking at the other end of the lab. Oh, happy days

That hot air ballon burner might do the trick. They typically on a small ballon carry 4 x 30 litre tanks of LPG. They can burn through that gas in about 30 minutes of actual burn and a bigger ballon will have 4 burners. Hot yes (wear a hat if ever you are tempted to take a ride.) however I am not sure it could cope with UK winter in a boat.

My experience is that the running costs are VERY high!!!
