This weekend\'s weather - any ideas?

Hello all,
Just wondering if anyone has some insider info on whats going to happen with the weather this weekend in the solently poole area. The met-office pressure charts don't match up with others I've seen and they've issued a severe weather warning for sunday and the beginning of the week that doesn't match up with little pictury forecasts at all!

I thought that the blocking high over Scandanavia would keep the nasty low (the end of hurricane Alex I believe) far enough away to be ignored and that it would be blissfully sunny and light aired... But according to another forecast I've seen, its going to get nasty on sunday, and is going to be grim all week :S
Any ideas?

According to theyr, the low comes across the Atlantic deepening to about 980, then gets stuck west of Ireland. The causes a S to SE air stream across the whole country. Although the worst of the winds are well to the West of Ireland, it's not going to be great anywhere with plenty of rain and moderate to fresh winds. Not cold though. Western and North coast of Ireland will be affected by the worst winds.

However, because it's a fairly small and intense low, it only takes the prediction of where it stops travelling East to be a couple of hundred miles out, and the strong winds will hit mainland UK. It's one to keep a close eye on.

I'm not a weather forecaster. No-one must take this analysis as anything other than amateur speculation.

the low due to pass to the west of britain is the remains of a hurricane. expect strong winds in the west of the country. how far east they reach depends on which forecasting model you're using.

Looking like Sunday being a work on the boat day, shame was hoping for a overnight stop at Barmouth but don't trust the weather for coming home. So a good day sailing on Saturday hopefully.
