This weekend?

That is so kind. Thank you. Let's hope we don't need it, might take a while though. :-) really looking forward to getting into Bray, what a great bunch of people!

We made it! Frozen solid... Waiting for a cab to go and collect Car. Back tomorrow to start giving the old girl some much needed Love... Thanks to all for Support and encouragement. Look forward to meeting all my Bray neighbors.

Thanks mate.. TLC then the fun begins. Chuffed to be at Bray too.. Think we may be the smallest there by a fair way! Though I have been told its not all about size..

Yours is larger than mine! In this context size really does not influence amount of fun.

Not totally true, I was contacted by EA yesterday, who apologised because they were experiencing problems with site.. Gave me an alternative telephone for updates. Same happened today. So certainly not trying to bash the EA, just trying to use one of their resources.. Fit it with who anyway? :-) I am just a humble boater with no agenda what so ever. Thanks for the welcome anyway..

Hi Hembuck! Think we just saw you arrive (we were on our way out) - well done, you've arrived!! I bet you were cold!! Give us a ring tomorrow pm if you fancy a walk round to B pontoon!

Certainly was a little cold.. :-( but so glad we are there now. Much better environment to relax and do what we want to do with her.. Look forward to visiting, will call you soon. Best Scott

 Was that really necessary??

Guess Howard is entitled to an occasional 'bit grumpy' day just like the rest of us?

I've not been aware of a problem with the river conditions website, in fact its been very good in recent months. However, not everyone realises that the last update time was the last time conditions in any of the stretches actually changed. No changes in board status means no update. So, although you may think no-one is updating the site because the last update was, say, yesterday afternoon, unless there has been an actual change in board status at any of the locks that was the last valid update.
We have been pressing for an update regardless of board status at a regular time every morning so that it would be obvious it had not been overlooked and I think this is in hand.

Anything that involves lines of communication and technology can and will go awry sometimes despite everyone's best efforts. Harbour control at Penton got it in the neck from Penton's lock keeper recently for allowing a boat to leave the marina when the website showed yellows but the lock showed reds. The trouble is we all expect the information to be absolutely 100% accurate and bang up to date all of the time. In reality that's just not possible. I'm sure the vast majority of river users really appreciate the effort being made by all staff on the river, especially those at Teddington, to provide us boaters with the best possible and most accurate info they can. We in turn have to realise that these updates are a guide only and cannot, based on current (excuse the pun) systems, be updated in real time.

Harbour control at Penton? What's that then?
Surely they can't prohibit someone from going out if they want to, even Envag can only advise. Some of us see no problem with fast flows, the entrance to Langstone Harbour or say Christchurch can be far faster flowing than is ever seen on the Thames. Other than bridge heights fast flows have never troubled me indeed I find them an asset when coming alongside.
