This Weekend

What a fabulous weekend... ended up being myself and the youngest due to SWMBO having girlie flu and my eldest lad, errrrm, having girlie flu too ;-) had the bug myself but nothing a bit of salt air didn't cure...

Motored out from Lymington as usual and ended up in Christchurch harbour after soaking the dog on route.. doing 30knts and took off the other side of Hurst Castle after encountering a freak wave in an otherwise flat calm sea.... caused a pretty impressive sheet of water to go over our heads in the front seat but not so lucky in the back as it deposited a few gallons of water on the pooch curled up on the rear seats... never seen her move so quick in to the bow before :-) frightened the life out of the young'un so the rest of the day was spent building his confidence back up.. he became chief freak wave lookout person ;-)

Weather was glorious and really liked Christchurch harbour.. didn't have time to have a look around in the dingy but will go back there to have a proper looksee.

all in all, another good day to remember... looking forward to many more

Thanks to bambaleo for the heads up on the good weekend.

Managed to get down to Poole and did the Studland/Swanage/Durleston bit. Only bought the boat in July so this was the calmest/wind free day we had this season. Managed to fine out what the boat will do and also managed to swim and practice with the doughnut/tube that we picked up from the boat show the other week and I had told my son we would not get to use this season.

Well, we got to Weymouth after a 5.30am start from Christchurch.Came out in the dark with 0.1m under the prop.at 6.00am...stresssss.Once out the sun came up and we were at Worbarrow by 8.0 having done the journey along the coast at 10knots.
Couldnt get the anchor to bite so moved to the Mupe end and we were moving again....then the windlass packed up so we hauled up and went for Weymouth.
Stopped about 3 miles short for a spot of fishing,20 Mackrel ,a pink Gurnard and loads of Garfish, by amateurs on feathers in an hour!Great fun.
Went into Weymouth about 3pm and kids gutted the fish.
Chilled out and had a look round for the evening and the nextday.
Left at 1pm sunday and di the Jurasic coast at 10 knots then another few mackerel off Hengistbury as we waited for the tide.Another 0.00m sounding going up the river so more Stresssss.
Great weekend!

P.S. Ive never seen so many Pubs in one place.....in fact Ive not seen so many pubs that are not closed down in one place.

Glad you had a good time. Just noticed my original piccy didn't work - this is what I was trying to post:

Work on the anchoring though - its definitely worth it!

I heard of a chap that went to Alderney in a 20' sports boat for breakfast and was back in the harbour by 2 clock, what a trip that must have been, must have been about the only weekend this year that you could have done that in such a small boat.

another photo of Warbarrow Bay.

Just dug this out the mobile phone... more to show the fabulous conditions rather than evidence of giving the pooch a good soaking
