With light winds forecast and neap tides this weekend has anyone got any trips planned , going to try and get to Alderney and herm if all goes to plan .

Southampton/Thames

Trip back to non tidal Thames planned commencing Friday 07.00.
Hope the early morning is not too misty.
Re-fuel Ramsgate then overnight either Medway or Limehouse. Depends how knackered we are.
Happy cruising.

I fancy going somewhere from Christchurch but ,having never been further than Poole Harbour[bad,I know.]I feel like being a bit more adventurous.

Head over to Allum bay /Totland bay or into the solent , plenty of places to visit or stay overnight , there will be at least one empty berth in the yacht haven friday & saturday night :)

May go to Weymouth and along the coast to see whats happening in that area.

Anywhere to moor or anchor overnight down that way?

Planning to go to Guernsey from Torquay. Leaving first thing Saturday morning, and will head back again late Sunday.

Channel light vessel is forecasting NE 1-3 over the next few days so I'm hoping the sea will be like glass.

Kids are being looked after by grandparents, and the fridge is full of beer....ahh, I can't bloomin wait!

Anyone else heading that way?

Rob

We are having some boat handling training Saturday in Chichester Harbour but might head over to Cowes or The Hamble later on if we aren't too tired :-).

we'll be doing the open fire camping thing at Hurst View again and will be out from Lymington public slip on at least Sunday for the day and possibly Saturday too depending on how quickly I can round the kids and SWMBO up on Saturday morning... got my little Binliner running well at present so looking forward to a good run out to somewhere nice for us all. :-)

I fancied doing the trip to Guernsey I've had planned all year as the channel should be like a mill pond, but SWMBO's vetoed that in favour of Lymington on the grounds it's not worth the diesel for one night there. She'll probably empty a larger chunk of our bank account into the shops on Lymington High St instead, but that doesn't seem to count :(:(

We'll be in Berthon's if anybody's about - do come and say Hi. Our boat will be the one with shopping bags strapped onto the foredeck.

will likely pop in to say hi Adrian so long as we don't talk IT Proj Mgt and SWMBO's spending a 'princely' sum on the high street ;-) I'm affllicted with both of those topics myself. seriously though, would be good to meet up with a few more fourm members. cheers Gary

Lullworth cove if you like being at anchor overnight , or if you fancy fish and chips weymouth quay or under the bridge in the marina .

Are all us boaters in IT? ;)

Given the forecast, either end of Worbarrow bay - tucked in behind Muppe rocks in the West, or behind the tout on the eastern side, would be good. Lulworth would also be fine. Chapman's Pool is nice for a lunch stop, but not one I'd overnight in.

Google Books has Inshore Along the Dorset Coast which I can recommend. If you like it, buy a copy - support the author (no connection).

Its a fantastic coastline just to drift along - the strata running down to the Tout is spectacular...

Mupe (Worbarrow) Bay is pretty good as the wind will be mainly in the North, but Chapman's Pool also has many attractions. Take everything you need though as there are no facilities at either spot.

I'll probably be down there myself on Sunday.

Edit: How weird Rick and I posted pretty much the same thing at the same time ..... doo-dee-doo-doo....

Never done the anchor overnight bit,.....OMG.......I wont get any sleep, thats for sure.Every time I have thrown the hook overboard up until now,at least with this boat, it has slipped and dragged and I have spent a good few[many] hours trying!....and rocks and tides and wind and......and I have to start at 5am on Saturday to make it out...........and the fridge freezer has broken!...........maybe I should overnight at weymouth?

Got the jitters now.looks like weymouth may be an option,They said I may have to Raft up....Another first for me.....do you know;I boat in Italy and all these things are easy there, but for some reason, here, I am very nervous about going anywhere and doing anything! It must be the cold water and the tides.
