Sorry, I,m hopelous at the piccy stuff but click the sight to have a look, if yer wants!

Tiss the Bods first boat

So tommorow am I will delve into it.
2 X 60 Mariners on the blunt end
Reckon it's 6.5 metres ish

Then we will chuck in the Menai Strait and see what's what!

Very interesting looking hull form
Kinda like a cathedral hull but with hydrafoils!
The engines are 'canted' so the water flow from the 'tunnels' are utilised.

Because the Gig was sprung on me a bit quick
I contacted a very experienced RIB mate of mine
Low and behold he gave me loads of info
Dave Manning the man's name
He is the 'Principle' of the RYA operation I work with
Low and behold he had done some testing for the Makers a few years back!
Sometimes it aint what yer know its who yer know etc!!
Dave is a deffo RIB expert

Anyway

Next two days should be interesting
I will report back on the performance of said vessel.
Piccys if poss
Anybody else helmed/ driven one?

Be nice to compare notes etc

It's a funny old world
On a mono hull , well, normal RIB at the back end of next week

36 flybridge two engs Monday
Single screw 40 ft Tuesday
An another mate has just bought a friggen Hovercraft gadgett:rolleyes:

That's Phil 2 Bottles boat, windlass cuts out after about 5 seconds, has to be switched off and on again, then operates for another 5 seconds, and so on, and so on, pretty useless really. Dealer replaced magnet I think under warranty but it never seems to have worked properly.

That site's naff & in Boer or German! Try this one instead

Looks pig ugly on the plane with all that freeboard, but should be pretty fast & fuel efficient - plus virtually no wash, other than the bubble trail! Don't forget the speed limits! :D Twin engines should make it pretty manouverable at slow speeds & the deep hulls should reduce the awfull sideways drift that usually affects little MoBos.

The magnet only works the chain counter Phil.

Split the throttles and see what happens and watch out for the "spit" as u come off a wave! Have fun.... It will be!!!!

Kwacka

If the RIB is anything like the Thundercat/Zapcat it will be fantastic fun.

The only problem may be standing at the helm and going into a fast corner, there will/maybe no transverse movement, the boat (if like the Thundercat) will/should corner as if on rails. The crew is usually laying low and strapped in by the arms and feet for high speed cornering, their most exhilarating action movement.

This is great fun like an amusement park ride, or for close circuit racing, but may be slightly embarrassing if you get ejected from the boat during a hard turn in the Swellies ........and if that did happen, it could be terribly arkward if a photo captured the moment :D

Which day where you going for a run again, Kwacka :):)

Yer, what's kinda amusing

Nice to see you on different types of boats. I think you're gonna love it and if I'm guessing, particularly the cornering.

No roll, just flat turns with loads of 'G' force like a 'ZapCat'. Nope, I've not driven one either but that would be what I'd expect looking at the piccies on the link.

Look forward to seeing your follow up report.
Enjoy!
