I was searching for an inexpensive, compact, waterproof and shock-resistant camera with video-clip capability: and settled on this one: Olympus Mju 1030SW.

I am no photo-buff, so was content with the still pictures: then discovered that the video function allows runs of up to 29 minutes, and a 2GB memory card takes several such runs! I shall be able to re-live the action in my dotage! Joy!
Here are some short snips from from last season:

Superb camera for what it is. Excellent sail by the looks of your film. Wind picking up all the time it looks like, you looked back, were you getting a little anxious!!??

I have the same camera. Also good not having to protect the camera in snow and rain. But agree with comments on viewer at night or bright sun. Don't know why they couldn't put a viewfinder in.

Agreed. A viewfinder was a Must-have' in my search spec but I sacrificed it because no other camera met all the other requirements so well.
I have learned to manage without it by shooting 'wide', then using the built-in edit facilities. I'm chuffed with it. (You probably know that!)

Spendid sail! I have not been on the water for over a year, makes one envious. What make is your wind vane gear? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Works beautifully on a relatively large boat. Enjoyed the sailing vid too. Like the 2 jib setup and powering along there.

What's the autofocus like for stills?

I have a three year old Pentax Optio. I'm pleased with it, except the moment is usually gone by the time it achieves focus. I probably won't replace it till it dies though, which it refuses to do.

I have a Waterproof Camera that I've found to be amazing.

It's completely waterproof and I could even go deep sea diving with it if I wanted to.

It's the GoPro Hero 5, it was a reasonable price and it's really easy to use, especially as it comes with a strap that you can attach to just about anything.
