this forum.......

is it just me, or is it general?

got very slow and is becoming quite boring to use.

anyone???

My personal opinion is that the e-mail notification system on the new forum is one of the main causes of that. The old forum gave you notification of every post on a particular thread so you were able to keep up with how a thread was progressing and add your own posts when you wanted. The new forum only gives you notification of replies to your own posts so, unless you check a thread regularly, you miss many other interesting posts and that causes threads to peter out earlier
I also think that the different way of posting pics is still putting off some peeps from posting cruise pics and the like but maybe that will improve with time. Dare I say also that maybe the current economic situation is causing people either to have to work more hours or do less boating or both which means they've got less time to surf the forum and less to say when they do?

It's died a death, if it was not for the occasional Wales lot turning up, I'd have given up long ago. Mobo used to be fun, besides being very informative, but always a laugh a minute. These days nothings moved on the next time you look.

But the interesting thing is, whilst mobo used to be much busier than Shuttlebut. Shuttlebut eventually took over, as could be expected, there's far more of them. But mobo is now in front again. So if mobo is dead, scuttlebut must be fairing much worse.

gee - I had missed that score on the other site.....concur if its bad here; must be buried over there.

Also agree used to be a laugh a minute here and threads wizzed. now the cr** stays for days on end. So not just me then. Thank God for that :-)

I realise not everyone shared the same sense of humour as the 'series-1' but at least 35% enjoyed the posts.
Those that didn't enjoy the post style didn't have to read them but still benefited in that there was a greater tolerance of other humour on the forum.
Until the forum accepts that it is for everyone and not just a select few the forum will never return to the popular and enjoyable site it used to be.
If the credit crunch has had a bearing on the forum it is causing a few to be shorter tempered than normal.
Far too serious now as humour is frowned upon by some.

What is a tag line and who puts it there , is it the moderators ?

I agree, I met him in the summer refueling at Southsea Marina, not sure how we got on the subject of the forum but he did tell me he got banned from here:-)

I thought he was a nice bloke and always enjoyed his posts.

Yes, he was entertaining, as in a spectator sport. Which is fine if you enjoy bear baiting.

But for whoever was this weeks victim, it was maybe not so much fun.

Three life times bans is quite an achievement.

The thumbnail route is a bloody night-mare and IMO should be disabled.

I seem to get emails on new additions to threads I have replied to, at least I think I do, dont think all the notifcations are replies to my reply. :)

Having given this forum format the benefit for a while now, I still think the old format was better.

As for content, I think we have had long runs of bad weather, Red Diesel tax and the fear of the colapse of boat prices, as well as the financial crisis.

Hopefuly it will make an upturn again soon (if we all try hard :) )

D

The amount of forums dont help, maybe theres something interesting on the Thames or Bristol Chanel forums, from time to time, but I would not know.

The meet up forums worked for a while. But not now, hardly anyone looks down there.

Most of the forums want closing, get back to three or four, else every wheres going to get so slow and boring that the whole lot collapses
