Left work about three weeks ago, moved on to the boat 27th June in Ramsgate with the ambition of cruising down to Spain etc etc. So far made it to Boulogne!!

Ahhh the glamour of the cruising life.

When is this awful weather going to change??

Why not consider dropping the mast and coming down through the canals? Your 1.6m draught should not pose too much of a problem from memory. The trip is fantastic and not weather dependant....

Plenty more information on doing the canals is available on these forums (fora?).

Just a thought

Good luck whatever you choose to do.

Only 20 months of work left and Liz and I are officially retired! We are currently "living aboard" but sadly have to go off to work every Monday and don't return until Friday. Liz (lucky girl) gets a whole week on board every alternate week due to "multi-plexing her work options" (whatever that is - posh word for skiving?)
I hate to wish time away but............roll on baby!

We left Ramsgate on 13 June 2005, coast hopped all the way and arrived in Duquesa 18 October. Sometimes the weather was crap but it always got better again. And the further south you get, the better it gets. Great trip - go for it!

I drove from Dieppe to Trieste in May!!
It's not a great summer, but stay patient and persistent and you'll
get there in the end. Everything takes much longer than you planned.
And if the bad weather continues then do consider the canals.
