Thinking of moving to the South West, whats the sailing like?

Humm, unless I missed it Torquay Harbour now has pontoon alongside berths, the Council one, although I understand that there is a half tide 'cill' to enable 'tide round' afloat berthing, but restricted (by time) berthing is possible in the outer Harbour, if waiting for the 'cill' to be opened.
Understand that the charges for this Harbour are quite reasonable, comparatively that is, to other Marina in the area berthing charges.

None in the Fal for visitors but you can anchor for free in the St Mawes area......they do not charge but keep the ability to charge on their books in case they wish to reinstate charging. Also you can anchor for free in the Carrick Roads South of a line between Penarrow Point and Messack point.
Here for instance in St Just Pool the yachts on the moorings are just by Messack Point.

Thanks for that.
It would be nice to be able to anchor off the town for free. When I anchor there I always go ashore and spend money. This year, I got so fed up with paying fees at anchor I moved from Falmouth earlier than I would have. I guess that is their intention.
