I have been looking at buying an Arvor 215 with 100hp or 75hp diesel, mainly because the fuel consumption is better than an outboard and fuel is cheaper. Not sure if it's just as well going for a boat like the Merry Fisher 625 with 115hp outboard as diesel fuel going up next year. Any advice on pros and cons of these types of boats would be appreciated.

I agree with Ben here. The diesel is better but the fuel price is not all it was. I have only spoken to happy owners of both and have looked at both over the last couple of years as I used to be more into to fishing before.

If you view both, the choice will be fairly simple as your boating needs will decide. If fishing is your priority, I'm pretty sure you'll go for the Arvor if coastal cruising with a bit of fishing then the Merry Fisher will win.

Another boat to consider is an Offshore 25, great fast fisher with a good cabin and facilities. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Also consider an Ocqueteau a good little boat with similar lines, consider the 695 and 715/735 depending on your budget.

The main difference beween outboard and diesel is the renge with the same ammount of juice, longlevity of the engine and seakeeping all the outboard boats have the weight of the engine over the transom and little weight up for ward.

Diesel boats of this type have the weight aboutamidships and therefore split the waves better and give a better ride in sloppy conditions.
