Thinking of a switch to a RIB

Having had a couple of ribs(6.4m and an 8m) I’d say140hp as a bare minimum on a c6-6.5m Rib. 175hp on a 6.5-6.8m. 200hp for a 6.8-7m. Am a bit out of touch with outboards but I think there is a compromise between going up a size on engine versus the engine weight when you are going from say a 4cyl to a 6 cyl, etc. Just my opinion!

surely the answer to how much power is needed is the max that the boat is rated for delivered by the lightest possible outboard for that power?

We have twin 90s on a 6.8 and on a calm sea it will do 38 knots with 4 people onboard
