Thininng out sikaflex?

As temporary solution I'd like to try thinning out sikaflex (or other similar compound) to get it to flow into smaller cracks. This is a temp fix to prolong the need to re-caulk a deck. Does anyone have experience with a similar issue?

I can't imagine it would be even a mid term success. If you only have leaks in areas you'd be best raking out the sika there and doing local repairs. If the whole lot leaks then you don't have a lot of options.

Instead of trying to thin Sikaflex, what about pitch? Melt it in a bucket and pour it on, it would go some way to filling smaller cracks, but wouldn't be pretty.

I have used Arbokol a 2 part pourable poly-sulphide deck caulking, it poured like double cream then went off like rubber.

Use CT 1 It is much runnier than Sikaflex and it comes in 9 colours including Black. If you were to thin Sikaflex it wouls stop it working in a correct manner.

CT1 sounds very very interesting. As I also have a shed roof to recover, this may well get a test run. Thanks.

CT1 is expensive though, more than 291 I think I would rake out and do a local repair. It will give the timber time to dry out a little. Just trapping water under the caulk is storing up (more expensive) problems for a later date.
