Aeschylus, an ancient Greek playwright was killed at the age of 67, when an eagle dropped a tortoise on his head. The eagle is said to have mistaken his baldness for a rock and tried to use it to crack the shell of its prey. (In this practice example, just a wake-up call?)

A coconut appeared in our garden one day, and the most likely explanation for it's arrival is that a seagull dropped it. Where it found a coconut in Ireland, 5 miles from the coast, I don't now, but I'm glad it didn't drop it on my head.

I just mixed a small blob of five minute epoxy. It ‘s so warm atm that went off before I’d finished doing the job I was on.

Perhaps the most unlikely creature I've found on board ... this little tortoise. Theories welcomed as how it could have got there!

Neil Munro included a tortoise in one of Para Handy's tales; it was treated quite cruelly and used as a coal hammer.
