Hi all

I’m making my annual prilgrimage to Nice very soon and was thinking of spending a day in Beaulieu-sur-Mer next time.

I’ve never been before and was interested in any suggestions of what to see, where to eat, where to avoid?

Any thoughts / guidance on what to do / not do?

Thanks in advance!

Not only do we keep our boat there we have an apartment too! We love the place.

So what do you like doing? What are you after restaurant advice, beach advice, things to see, how to get there, where is the best coffee or something else?

We head down very regularly so we might even be in town.

PM me your dates and I am happy to chat it through via a phone call if you want.

I’m staying in Nice and enjoy a little sight seeing / change of scene for a day when I’m there. So any suggestions for a good seafood restaurant and a bar/cafe to watch the world go by would be great.

I’m guessing the easiest way from the Vieux Port would be to jump on a bus?

Ps. Is that a Westie I see in your profile pic? I’m trying to get my Westie used to our new marina and longer journey to it!

We stayed in Nice last year when attending the F1 in Monaco. The train service along the coast is excellent and it stops in Beaulieu

Kenny,

Here is what I would recommend based on you having a full day and wanting to return to Nice for dinner. I assume that you are staying close to the port in Nice and so have recommended bus lines based around this.

1. Catch the No81 bus to St Jean Cap Ferrat - https://www.lignesdazur.com/en. The bus leaves form the port, runs through Beaulieu and then ends up in St Jean above the port. €1.50 per person.

2. Spend the AM wandering around St Jean and the port before starting the leisurely walk to Beaulieu along the coast.

3. Lunch. Now I have two options for you. One is in the Port of Beaulieu https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Resta...h_Riviera_Cote_d_Azur_Provence_Alpes_Cot.html and one is a beach restaurant just as you enter Beaulieu https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Resta...ra_Cote_d_Azur_Provence_Alpes_Cote_d_Azu.html . The beach place can be hit and miss, but the setting is great! L'Atelier is our favorite in Beaulieu.
4. Post lunch head to the port, if you didn't have lunch here and have a peak around. Buy something from the chandlers for your boat!
5. Head into Beaulieu town and have a poke about. Grab a coffee at https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Resta...a_Cote_d_Azur_Provence_Alpes_Cote_d_Azur.html Its the best coffee in town.
6. Catch either the 100 or 81 bus back to Nice when you are ready. make sure the 81 is heading to Nice and not to St Jean or you might have to do everything again.
Let me know if you would like some more.

Yes, that was Mr Mac our Westie of 16 years who passed away Christmas Eve 2016. He is admiring a lobster that was about to be lunch. The picture was taken in Port Edgar in our old boat which at that stage was kept in Port Edgar.

Thanks for taking the time for the itinerary; much appreciated!

Our Westie is a sprightly 13year old, so hopefully he’ll enjoy our recent move from Cameron House to Portavadie.

He’s not a great boater (yet) as he was my late Father-inlaw’s dog and hadn’t seen many sea miles - but we plan on changing that late this year with a trip up the West Coast (Scotland) - heading through the Crinan Canal bound for Skye.

Are you in France this week/weekend; if so we may see you around at some point (if I knew what you looked like ;-)

Kenny,

We just picked up our new Westie puppy on Sunday and will be taking him to Beaulieu later this year to give him his first exposure to boating.

I will be in Beaulieu on Saturday as I am doing a handover and clean of our apartment before heading back to London that night. I will pm you my mobile number in case you make it to Beaulieu on Saturday.

Beware of current go-slow strikes. The railway guys stop for 2 days, work for 3, then stop again. A total mess at the moment, and a pity as the ride is really extraordinary along the coast

The trains are on strike on Friday, but not Saturday. However, the service can still be patchy. We use the trains a bit and you are right - the views can be spectacular!
