Got to my boat around 5/8/2009 looking at my Avon rib to find the engine antitheft cable cut in various places but not totally through, so an attempt had been made to steal my engine.

Also noticed red/maroon paint on the starboard side of my hull where they had moved alongside and tried to steal etc.

Reported to marina owner, not interested, he says Harbour master or police not interested either a waste of time informing either as engine not taken, however as it must be someone with a wooded painted dinghy/ boat thats moored on the hamble somewhere.

Yesterday I hear a dinghy and outboard taken from Cabin boatyard area.

These thieves are still operating so beware of your outboards on davits etc, get some better antitheft locks.

the police are way too busy for that (yeh right)

Do what i did when my car window got put through by a brick wielding little scumbag, i had a very good idea who it was so knowing that they would almost certainly walk past again i waited with a golf club near the gate. Sure enough scumbag mcTracksuit walked past.........

he doesnt walk too good on his right leg any more......

A couple of weeks back, I saw plod nosing around where I moor, in a black rib with mercury outboard power, so perhaps they are trying to be seen to be doing something,or cynically, they might be just checking if my helming was in a straight enough line not to breath test me, as I was certainly not speeding, god forbid!
