Jeez Alt what a thread.

Some say 12mm

Some say 14mm

You buy 13mm - very diplomatic which is very unusual for you /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

ps: Happy New Year to you "Westies" /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Ah you know me, i'm a peacemaker deep down, honest /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I figured 13mm would be a 'happy medium'

Many happy returns to you "Dub scobies" /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Oh dear, Alt hope your not intending to use them on the Shannon as you are contravening "marine notice no.6 2003" /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gifwhich clearly states mooring warps should be a "minimum of 12 meters long" /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
I knew we would keep you and them fast sportcruisers types away even if its on a technicality /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

You think i'm going to use nice lovely clean rope on the boggy, dirty Shannon? NOT A CHANCE! I'll be using a big reel of cheapo 3strand nylon when i'm on the Shannon... you could whip someone with it! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

On a serious note the plan is to use these as mooring lines and will keep 1 long heavy rope on-board in case of needing/giving a tow or heavy weather mooring

Ah, that's it! And here was me thinking it was that you MUST have a rope long enough to foul your prop to be allowed on the Shannon /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

I was going to wait for a very PC reply and then say "Sure i'm bundling them all up as one big line". But then i'd probably be told it's too long /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

It's too long.

Alt,
Someone here recommended me for these kind of lines, can't remember who. Dave Flint amongst several others. I have 13mm navy doublebraid nylon (Canadian) perfect for your boat, and I often supply them pre-spliced. (Boatropes on eBay) For full details call me on 01606 888154.

Hello Boatropes - You got £51 of my money this morning /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif I'm the guy from Ireland who ordered the stuff from you - For all my good feedback I gave you on this forum I think I should get an extra rope for free /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

"Braid-on-braid is very low stretch". Absolutely correct because it is normally polyester yacht rigging braid for taut sail control. I have that range in stock of course, but Leo is recommending my braid-on-braid nylon dockline, a US/Canadian regular product, dedicated to mooring/anchoring, with designed stretch to match. Very rare this side of the Atlantic.

Alt is unsure about 12mm-14mm so the 13mm size here should do him well.
