Any suggestions?
Some near vertical steel surfaces getting a once over first with hydrochloric acid to dissolve the rust then phosphoric to convert the bits left, problem is both are quite runny and just run off.
So what household/local diy shop method to thicken them?

No wallpaper paste powder available down here, tried some flour which worked a bit but maybe there's a better method?

TIA

Put some blu tac sound the vertical sides and bottom the press a piece of glass or plastic into the blu tac to create a pocket then port the hydrochloric acid let it do it think the do the same with phosphoric acid.

Remove glass and blu tac wash and paint.

Must be able to buy wallpaper paste somewhere. I know I've seen wallpaper in the shops. Unless its the ready pasted stuff. Maybe try Leroy's.
Or special shipment from UK courtesy of B381.

Just paint it with Vactan. Enough will stick, even if it needs a couple of coats.
Not a chance! :)
There can't be any real doubt, best way for non shot blasted steel in do your absolute best to get back to clean steel and 2 part epoxy designed for less than perfectly prepared surface . I prefer phosphoric acid to convert the rust hidden away unseen in the pores to something more stable. Shame ameron sealer isn't available in europe anymore, it was great stuff, took days to go off but provided an excellent 1st coat primer after soaking right into every pore and crevice. Single part solutions are heading towards snake oil. Heed to the tropics for a few years and see what works,, ;)

Nothing in Aki, just a couple of pre mixed offerings, can't recall every seeing any wallpaper in Portugal..
Though flour mixed in some water then acid seems to be working not too bad.

Ingenious
Though can't see it working round the frames and stringers, bit of flour seems to work OK.

After a tip on here, I've used dishwashing liquid to thicken oxalic acid and that worked really well. Never tried it for de-rusting, as the Flag paints rust converter paint I bought ages ago is already sufficiently sticky.
