At the weekend I saw a boat advertised on TheYachtMarket.com that I was interested in and used their 'email seller' tab to ask some questions.
The seller duly responded with answers to my questions which is fine, but I've also started to get unsolicited emails urging me to hurry to get a special discounted build slot on a completely different type of boat from a completely different company.
I've spoken to a director of TheYachtMarket who's confirmed they've captured my details and are now using it to forward unsolicited emails from other companies and would have continued to do so. As i've now made it very clear to them that this isn't appreciated they've agreed to remove my details but ordinarily this wouldn't be the case.
I take a dim view of companies who do this without permission and suggest that anyone who likewise gets fed up with their inbox filling up with junk mail either avoid using this company altogether, or to make contact with the selling broker directly and not via the on-screen tab.
ps I did ask the director for his private address so that I could pass it on to various tradesmen who'd be interested in contacting him to sell him their services and strangely he was very unhappy with the suggestion.....yet this is exactly what he does with my and your private email address'!
