On my Invicta 26, I have Two tube heaters, connected to shore power, with a honeywell thermostat in line.

Shore power- Thermostat - Multiplug -Tube heaters

I have power to the thermostat.

The heaters will only switch on if I turn the thermostat down to ZERO. When I do this I hear the thermostat click on. The heaters will then work for about 5 minutes and then stop. No matter what I do with the thermostat control, it will not switch back on. I can not here it click at all, and my heaters remain dormant.

I thought that the heaters would workk if I turned the thermostat UP to a higher temperature!?; and stay on until that temperature was reached. Is is possible that the thermostat is wired to work in reverse, or am I missing something really obvious?

Sorry if this is all a little vague, but so is my knowledge!

You need to check the current capacity of the thermostat first. Also, for frost protection use, it's best to use a proper frost thermostat. I use a Salus froststat on the trace heating on the plumbing in the stables.

It sounds as though you have a heating /cooling type thermostat ie one which has a set of contacts which close when you turn the setting down to control cooling equipment.
It sounds that you have used the contact for cooling control rather than heating control.

BUT that does not explain why it swtiches off after five minutes and wont switch on again.
It would switch on and the stay on until the temperature fell below the set point.

I suggest you study the wiring instructions carefully or scan them and post them or maybe post a link to them on-line.

( I am trying to explain in terms of incorrectly wiring the internal heater ... but can't !)

Provided the thermostat you have covers the range of temperature at which you want it to operate there is no particular reason to discard it in favour of a Froststat

has the thermostat got 3 connections ?, if it has prob should be marked
com, no, nc, leave the connection on com the same & change the over the other one
