I have posted over t'otherside so to be fair, just take a looksie. I can gather that there were many different views and positions taken on this event but nevertheless, it is very sad all round, a lose-lose situation by any standards. Perhaps we should all be able to learn something though?

No, not by the grace of god at all!

private marina wanted his boat OUT, their freedom to do so, but he wdn't agree it was a heap, and refused to move - perhaps even couldn't move. Crest offered him money, but he still wdnt move. So, they chucked him out. All along he's used his kids, even goldfish to blackmail others into doing what he wants.

Time to let go, and do something else. In fact it was time a long long time ago.

Far more important to defend the rights of organisations to do (legally) what they want rather then become a charity, an arm of social services and so on and especially NOT to bow to this sort of pressure.

imho

I, too, have little sympathy for him. He managed to dissipate a great deal of goodwill (after all, how many boaters love marina companies?) and to alienate almost everyone who offered help and support. I'm not sure how he managed this, beyond a general feeling that there was something about the way he expressed himself, and the disingenuous way in which he fished for information and then twisted it around to fit his purposes, that set my teeth on edge. Like tcm, I was also less than enamoured with the way he used his kids to try and gain sympathy.

It appears he has had this effect on lots of people. I believe he had every chance to sort this out, or to walk away with a result, and only has himself to blame for what has happened.

At the risk of sounding flippant, I think the Picton's looking better now they've got rid of the superstructure...........

Went over to the dark side to have a look. I think she's canned it already!

An awful lot of hot air has been expended over this one. One thing is clear: being selective about what evidence you cite ultimately rebounds on you.

cruelty

the cruelest blow (i wd have thought, tho he is thick-skinneed) was when he proudly posted some pics of the vessel in penarth and everyone here sed ooer, jeez, what a heap...

Oh dear Snow Leopard...how conditioned you seem to have come to seeing posts pulled without an explanation! Take another look "on the dark side" and this time not just a cursory glance...it is ALL still there!!!

Had a look back over the whole of the index and saw nothing that looked like it. I'm sure you're right but life's too short to open every thread. I recall the discussion was hived off into a separate 'playpen' a year or so back but I don't see that any more - maybe because I'm not signed in.

Hidden behind a pile of scrap HTML. No wonder I couldn't find it /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

We've had a few instances of people on this forum who expect replies only from those who agree with them. I don't recall any who have been so comprehensively shafted as a result though.

If the owner of the house (read: berth) you rent gives you due notice, you have to leave. No matter how much you like the street, or how much you'll miss the neighbours or the local school.

If you then refuse to leave, you shouldn't cry foul if the owner uses every legal means to get you evicted.

Again: if you decide to live the different life, get out of the rat race, stop paying council tax, you should also accept that you lose some of the protection clauses that apply to normal situations.

We have people living the bohemian life on barges, trying to get away from our material society, complaining to the council that their garbage is not being collected and they like to be registered so that they can get a pasport.

If the guy is not paying coucil tax, how is paying for the school his five children are attending?

He should have given up his fight against windmills a long time ago, and thereby saved his family a lot of problems.

I think that was the conclusion most of us came to quite a long time back! Initially, the guy had a lot of sympathy...face it not many of us love Marina owners...but then he lost it big time by turning a crusade into a personal vendetta!

Still feel sorry for the kids...they didn't choose their parents!

Thanks or No Thanks to Noah We Will Learn, Whatever We Think of Him!

Trying to piece the bits together from here and t'otherside, may be a bit challenging, but already I can see a few assumptions and misleading statments just in what has been written above. I am sure we have not heard the last of this, check this out, now the Primeminister of the UK gets to know about it.

Despite the clear Christian identity on their website it seems the Shaloms have a lot of faith in something and I would love to know what that is, the website is perhaps not full enough.

But in anycase, it's a hot and sunny day and beautiful people are passing my window, I must offer them a cup of iced-tea before I go for a snooze. Sorry, but this place is too crowded even when it's quiet, and there's still so much more to look forward to. If anyone is heading channel islands this summer, this may help you focus.
