Theft of tender.

So now we even have a guy's name. :D Anyone know Marc Bayley so we can hear his side of the story?

He's probably out rioting, looting and nicking stuff at the moment:) Still musn't be too presumptious. Could be a crew who chartered the boat

Is it just me that feels uncomfortable with the way this thread is going.

Personal details posted, insinuations of a crime without proof.

Sounds a bit like witch hunt.

Shall I get my pitchfork?

I do hope you're not including me; I suggested that Wild Goose should be contacted just to ascertain the actual situation. Other items posted are a matter of public record.

One feature of YBW forums is how quickly google picks up on forum threads - just google Victoria Ryde and the thread is already creeping up page 1; so it's no longer just in the forum domain

I had my tender & o/b "borrowed" in Holyhead some years back by a visiting Irish Crew. They stayed later in the club than the launch operates (as did I) but they left before me so the could use my dinghy & motor. When they got back on board their boat they just cast the tender & motor adrift.

leaving me stranded ashore with wife & kids wondering why I was so late! Fortunately a pal helped me out & the CG suggested where I may find it given where & when it was cast adrift. They were quite right, but it was a bit of a palaver to recover in shallow water hard against a sloping concrete wall from the main boat. No1 son was dangled by his ankles over the bow with a boat hook while I ran us aground.

So yes, there are selfish twats in boats as in all other walks of life.

I am amazed at the number of people with tenders who just leave them at pontoons etc without any locks and then get upset when it has gone. Although it is a pain sometimes, I have a long cable where I can lock it to a pontoon, tree etc and that includes a seperate lock for the engine. Also best not to have it looking new either.

Do you now lock it searush?

this is Marc Bayley's phone number ....

02392 812***...

He's owned the boat for 7 years , it seems

EDIT Phone number sent to OP as suggested

Getting the CG or Police to contact the boat is a bad idea.........suppose and it is a "suppose" he is guilty...........untie tender, goodbye evidence.

Mmm, perhaps nuff said now eh, before the mods come down on us all

Ok this could be my first post to be pulled.

Nobody is suggesting they are guilty but all routes need to be checked out and if you have information on the web you must have sanctioned it.

All I can say is thank you to all that have sent Pms and offered information on the post…….. nobody should have their possessions loaned confiscated borrowed liberated or what ever other terminology that one would like to use.

This only goes to show how quickly one can “hopefully” get information.

Thanks, I will let you all know the outcome.

Tom

Quite, that's why mine was cast adrift.

And Scubadoo, no, I still don't lock it, but I don't often leave it anywhere. That single incident was about 20 years ago & tho it still rankles - cos if they had come back in & asked me I would have ferried them back.

Now 20 years of locking & unlocking dinks probably represents a fortnight of wasted life. I am happy with my choices, but it might be different if I frequented clubs, marinas & public slipways & jetties more.
