I just passed the "CMA CGM Marco Polo", Homeport London, in the port of Bremerhaven.

Too many boxes; I did a trip on a 5000TEU boat, and even that was too big for my taste and boxboats in general have fatiguing schedules, especially if the charterer is playing the 'guess your next port' game. Undeniably a cheap way of getting stuff from A to B though.
 
just looking at the line of visibility from the bridge over the stack on the bow, I wonder hwo far ahead the OOW can in fact see before a crossing vessel becomes obscured by the cargo ?

Perhaps there's a for'd bridge and a couple of bean cans connected by string....
 
Maybe 0,2-0,3nm?

I think that on this vessel it should be a bit better, compared to the smaller ones, where the bride is located far more aft.

About this; you can see from the pics, the 2nd stack is only 5 high, wereas the 5th stack is 7. The maximum stacking heights are set by the Naval Architect to the satisfaction of the Class Society to give a reasonable sightline.
 
Back in the late 80's I was a young deck officer with P&O Containers on the Bay Boats.
The biggest I worked aboard was Osaka Bay.
In her day, she was huge.
292m loa, 2 x 25,000Hp and 3000TEUs.

Tiny by todays standards though.
 
Plus the obvious thing to do is add a camera up forward to cover the blind spot. No idea if they do.

Pretty useless I think, let's suppose they did not see a vessel and it suddenly shows up in the camera picture, then what? They can't stop or turn away so it might only serve to identify what it was they ran over.
