The winter \'to-do\' list

So come on 'fess up....

Who hasn't got even half way through their winter to-do list?

Me...?

Well, I had 71 things on mine (yes...71... its a MAB)... and I've done 13 of them, with a further dozen still optimistically due to be completed..... I have however, done at least 10 other jobs that weren't on the priority list.... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: The winter \'to-do\' list

I'm on my third boat in 25 years. Just keep the same list and change the name of the boat at the top! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: The winter \'to-do\' list

Is it only me that hasn't even started the winter to do list, been too busy sitting in front of fire watching logs burn!!

Re: The winter \'to-do\' list

I call ours the Spring 'to-do' list, so as we've been waiting for spring to start, this weekend will be the first full day at the boat yard. SWMBO refuses to scrape, paint or chip if she can't feel her fingers and/or ears.

Still, I've got one and a few halves ticked out of the 22 on the list. The big jobs are:
Fit 2nd halyard winch
scrape deck paint off cabin top and replace
fit new sound insulation in engine
find water leak in exhaust
fix water pump
find oil leak
clean oil out of the bilges .... again

plus all the usual varnishing and antifouling

Re: The winter \'to-do\' list

I havent even started on mine yet!! Got a month off after leaving here, they will all be done! Watermaker service first job!

Re: The winter \'to-do\' list

Not to bad :

Change anodes - Done

Replace Heads inlet fitting - Done (boatyard)

Remove doggy-protection netting from guard rails - Done

Refit battery charger - Done

Wire up GPS repeater in cockpit - not yet

Fix leaking galley tap - Done (I think)

Have all gas piping replaced (well out of date) - Done (by Gas Engineer)

Inspect/clean/replace all reefing lines - partly done

Check slightly sulky log - Done

Draw up wiring diagram for the boat - In progress

Service winches - Nope (can wait until we're afloat)

Service heads - done

Perhaps begin a rolling program of replacing blocks etc - on hold due to restrictions imposed by the Management /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Check rigging, inspect/clean/replace halliards, replace all bulbs - was going to do it, but Management said "You'd better have someone check the rigging who knows what they're doing" Sigh.

Also assorted other jobs cropped up along the wayand have been dealt with.

Antifouling done; was hoping to wash & polish topsides on Sunday but the weather doesn't look as if it will play ball

Overall - 6/10, can do better

Re: The winter \'to-do\' list

I went to the boat on Monday to do a job. Shovelled the snow off the deck, took off the cover after an hour wrestling with frozen knots. Salted the main hatch to melt the ice so I get down below. Installed my new optimus parafin stove. Retied the cover then drove home. Took out my list to cross off another job and IT WAS NOT ON THE LIST. Oh the gloom, I was so depressed. Three hours work wasted it seemed.
