The Wheatsheaf, Yarmouth

Rather than rekindle an old thread thought I d start a new one...

Ate there last week - first time as was taken there with work... excellent service and good grub.

Went back with Mrs PW2B the next night for proper meal and again very quick and pleasant service. One complaint about the food was the salad that I had to waste in preference to leaving the 'proper' food.

Prices also reasonable and non smoking in food area.

Ate there last week as well, food pretty dire. When asked how it was I said food under cooked/dry. Recieved a grunt and banging of plates. Bar staff friendly and helpful so maybe just a bad day in the kitchen.

Didnt eat there but bloody smoky in the smoky area, I know I should have gone to the non-smoking but when one of you is a walking chimney then very difficult..... Great sailing though.

I reckon you happened across a bad day in the kitchen - it's usually pretty good there.

Not something to rush to Yarmouth for ....

The place also looks very Hospital and clinical in the decor !!! Shall we say uninteresting ?

I like to enjoy not only a good pint and grub - but cosy / warm surroundings ...

Unfortunately - I used to like the Bugle when it had the fireplace etc. - the later "Chain-Pub" decor is naff - but certainly better than Wheatsheaf. Grub is about same ... so as in most places now - all a bit of a muchness ...
