The Welsh Med

@LBR
Sunfury is a marvellous boat... really well designed (think storage for V berth infills and table storage in rear cabin). Great seakeeping hull.
The package puts many modern cruisers to shame.
Hope you have many happy years with her.
I did with my one.

It is, we looked hard and probably its up there pound for pound.
Because of their age, they all need an upgrade - but the hull and cabin part is tremendously built. It/they will outlive some of the new stuff being thrown together.

She owes us a few years now, which i think she will happily deliver.

tbh I think a 2.40 with a 1.55 interior is too small for your needs and messes with your auxiliary.

Not the prettiest of setups but you only will be using when making passage anyway and this imo is far more functional and will allow you to optimise your tender choice. 2.80 with large diameter tubes is minimum AFAIC for our waters with a family of 4 and dog.

EDIT: remember you are not paying for length like the marina boys. Their criteria has to take that into account as does their access from a finger pontoon.

I suppose the compilation of photos and videos is some evidence that a family can enjoy a 27ft boat in the UK.

wholeheartedly agreed,

with potential slow opening of borders coming summer,
I might be very happy that we still can use our old 26ft Karnic here in Belgium in local waters !

here a old picture report of one of our adventures this is the one in Cornwall:
Yes! we made it to Scilly's
there are a few other reports posted on here, ao one in Oban Schotland.. and family holiday's in the med..

Just read through that report. That's fantastic. The owner of one of the boats we cruise in company with is an avid diver and he never brings such bounty back to be enjoyed........................ I think maybe I should have a few pointed words with him

so first try , this has to be worse than Brucek ,or I will have to where that stupid hat or even worse is that hat spotted on jenny lynn. So our boating started early in langkawi with the day boat with the three hondas on the back , then Greece in the 17 ft day boat , and the rest all welch med.

Good taste in boats - poor taste in hats! ?

Here we are, our addition to the thread.

As our first season, we have had a wonderful time and met some fantastic people who are always available for advice, banter and the odd spare!

I suppose the compilation of photos and videos is some evidence that a family can enjoy a 27ft boat in the UK. And not on the south coast. In addition, it was considered a poor season!
Yes its not easy all the time, but its an adventure and one that hopefully will shape family memories for some time.

Enjoy, dont get too wrapped up in the format, we didn't.

The crew of Jenny Lynn!

Jenny Lynn Season 1

Hats off to you for the investment in the refit and what a superb outcome. Sportscruiser boating is great fun - we did similar to you with a Targa 35 and some good mates way back when and the kids grew up with it. Some great memories and the lifestyle and experience played a big part in shaping who they are now. Having had a bigger boat we downsized to an S34 last year and love it. She is for sale but only because we are shaping retirement plans - the current situation may well stall that but no matter, we love the S34 and am sure we will manage to live with it!

We posted this about our ‘refit’ Winter Project - bit PBO with lots of pics

Let’s hope you get to enjoy some of this season (y)

Greg,

Yes, the doing up is an essential part of the adventure, as from an 'investment' perspective none of it is truly a good one.
What you did looks like a top job. If its for sale, then someone will get a good boat, as I am sure similar attention to detail is spent all over.

The boating outlook is bleak this year. But there are bigger problems at the moment as we all know. At least in the mean time, we can spend the time with other projects. All those jobs that I have jokingly delayed to when I have months off, are now coming back to haunt me.

I completely agree that improving a boat is part of the experience - we have done something to improve all of our boats. I find that man maths quite clearly demonstrates that what we have spent on them has been a very sound investment!:ROFLMAO:

We actually sold the Targa about 9 years ago and then had a Broom 41. The Broom was a fantastic floating apartment and a great sea boat but oddly enough we have found the move back to a sportscruiser to be quite refreshing - very easy to use and closer to the water - more in touch if that makes sense?

Our ‘investment’ in the S34 has been complete new suite of electronics, a bespoke carbon fibre dash, new canopy and new cockpit upholstery. Some pics in the advert in the link below (not highlighting it is for sale - we have adapted our thinking to keeping it in the current climate - just convenient to see the pics) :D
