Friday morning swmbo,me and DV set off for a weekend in the Solent from a sunny Sov Harbour. It was a baptism of fire for the new davits as they had never been to sea before /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
We shot through the Looe channel with 3 knots of tide under us following something very quick with surface piercing rooster tail
We arrived at Cowes after 2 1/2 hours to watch some power boat racing but ended up in a washing machine created by many cruisers thrashing up and down level with the start lane
Decided then it was safer to decamp to the Hamble for the night. Cruising is thirsty work so after berthing at Mercury we deployed the new tender for a thrash up river to the Jolly Sailor for a pin t or 3.
After a pleasant afternoon and evening meal in the ne w Lulworth Bar at Universal Marina (highly recommended) the morning brought a trip up the river to the chandlery barge where I met Colin (Col) and his lovely swmbo Vicky and Chris. We talked Kad 42`s whilst pondering over Col`s immaculately painted engine room that Vicky had painted the previouse day. It was so good it seems a shame to put engines back in there.
Next we had a romp down to Lymington. Similar dingy activitys ensued followed by a feast in the Bluebird Restaurant on the town quay. Another good eating house I recommend.
Sunday saw another sunny day so we headed down the river this time with no passage plan at all.
After watching more racing in the washing machine I was approached by a mean looking marshall on a black jet ski. Just as he was bollocking me for being too far in a wave from the big flybridge in front knocked him clean off /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
Doh! I always miss those shots.
After a wizz back to Gosport for the night. I apologise now for over use of wake shots. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
We headed back to Eastbourne early Monday morning happy that nothing had broken and the davits having had some hefty jolts stayed where i`d put them. Lets hope its good this weekend so we can do it all again /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
